Golfweek Editor Explains and He Does Have a Point

Golfweek Editor Dave Seanor explains the decision for the "noose" on the cover. If Don Imus can get another job, I'm sure Dave will find another gig somewhere. I do have to say that Dave has a point about golf and race, but I still believe it was the wrong venue for it.

You're Fired!

Turnstile Publishing Co. president William P. Kupper Jr pulled off an excellent imitation of Donald Trump's famous line, "You're Fired!"

Golfweek's Noose

I haven't posted anything in over a year, but am prompted to do so now. As a golfer and media relations professionals, I am shocked that editors at Golfweek decided to fan the "lynch" controversy by fanning the flame with a photo of noose on its cover.

You'd think Golfweek was US Weekly. They even timed its publication date on the week of Martin Luther King day. Golfweek Editor Dave Seanor explained it all as a way to "foster dialogue." Dude, wake up, you write for Golfweek not The Nation.

Someone please call Rev. Al Sharpton and get him involved in this dialogue!

Why Golf?

When I was introduced to the game of golf fifteen years ago, I instantly became a golf nut.

I've always loved playing sports, but just never gave golf a chance when I was a child even though several of my cousins who were my age were already into it. Of course, when I first gave it a try years later at a driving range, I couldn't put down the 7-iron I borrowed. It just befuddled me how a sport that looked so easy and simple was really so difficult and complex. I tried playing golf not because it was becoming a popular sport (this was way before Tiger became a household name), but because I really thought I could master this game--of course, I thought wrong.

As all golfers know, no one has ever mastered this game--not even Tiger, Phil, or any other top ten player in the world.

Anyway, the reason I decided to create a blog about golf is because I love the game and everything related to it except for the occassional out of bounds drive and shots in the drink.
